A:  Please email us with the title(s) of the painting(s) you are interested in, and we will respond to your request as quickly as possible.     For information regarding commissioned artwork such as portraits, please describe your request in an email, providing as many details as you can.   We will respond to your request as soon as possible.   If you prefer to contact us via phone, we can be reached at (201) 562-6016, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. EST.

Q: Is the artwork sold framed?

A: Yes.

Q: What is "en plein aire" painting?

A: "Plein aire" paintings are landscape paintings completed outdoors on location.

Q: What materials do we use?

A: We use archival materials and quality products to ensure the longevity of our artwork.  Linen canvas is lead primed and is hand stretched over canvas stretchers.  The lead prime provides the most effective ground for oil paints.  Oil paint bonds strongly to the lead ground and the pigments are more vibrant when applied to the canvas.  The only medium used in our work is cold pressed linseed oil.

Q:  What is a "traditional oil on canvas" painting?

A: An oil on canvas painting is the archetypal piece of fine art.   Used for centuries, oil paints set the standard for permanence, variety of colors and translucence.   Until recently, many artists made their own paints by combining various oils and pigments.   At present day however, commercially available paints are of such high quality and variety.    Once a painting is dry to the touch, a "retouch" varnish can be applied. This type of varnish provides a temporary protective coating which is permeable to air and thus allows the painting to continue to dry.   Within 6 to 30 months (determined by painting technique) the painting will be thoroughly dry and a final sealing "picture" varnish may be applied.

Thank you for your interest in the original oil paintings of Diana K. Gibson and William G. Brown!
